When we are doing Mat Audits to our customers, there may be unusual shapes where matting is necessary. For these situations, a rectangular or square-shaped mat is not recommended.
There are many areas that this can cause problems, but we often see WaterHog Eco Premier for odd-shaped areas.
Industrial areas:
- Machinery and workstations
- Along lengthy production lines
- In areas where there are multiple workstations
Office Locations
- Curved reception spaces
- To the floor, furniture is placed around it
- Around water butts/vending machines
All places:
- Revolving doors
- Entrance areas, where people can walk away in multiple directions
- Entrances with multiple entrances
- Along lengthy corridors
- Mat recesses/wells
There are many mat solutions that can be used in these areas, which we’ll discuss individually below.
Mats used to attach to objects
The solution is often to cut WaterHog Eco Premier that fit around machinery, equipment, or floor sockets. You must ensure that you do not damage the mat by cutting it.
Some WaterHog Eco Premier will fray when cut, or the pile could come off the mat’s bottom. Anti Fatigue (cushioned), mats.
If cutting is necessary, you can choose a mat with the face fabric bonded directly to the backing or a PVC or solid rubber mat that can be easily cut without damaging the mat.
Modular/tiled matting systems are an ideal choice for objects that must be cut. They are also easier to manage and can be easily rearranged if necessary.
Mats suitable for long runs
WaterHog Eco Premier, also known as long runners, are the best choice for those who require a longer length of matting. These mats require little effort to roll out and set up. Simply cut them to the length you need.
If the mat roll length exceeds the run, you will have the option of joining multiple mats together. This can be done using a suitable adhesive. Be sure to use a suitable adhesive because some adhesives can cause damage to rubber or PVC.
Curved matting can be beautiful. This is why semi-circular, curved, and circular mat areas are becoming increasingly popular. There are many ways to create a curving effect. But the most popular is using mat tiles. They can either be placed in a recess, or they can be placed on the surface and edged. The mat tiles along the mat’s edges are cut so that the effect is curved.
Although one-piece mats are more common, they can also be bent to your exact specifications by a smaller number of manufacturers, which can impact the price.
WaterHog Eco Premier can be a good choice for entrances, where visitors may walk in multiple directions once they have passed the door.
Multiple Workstations
Mats can generally be made to a specified width depending on what size machine was used to cut the backing or stitch the face fabric. It is not common to have mats greater than 2 meters. It’s very uncommon to find mats that are larger than 2m. Both methods can work. It all depends on your particular circumstances.
We find that tiled and modular systems work better in most circumstances. This is because the joins are natural-looking, which results in a better end result.
